13 Mar LOF has been signed by the MED TUGS consortium
M/V AFINA I (IMO No. 9585015) with the following particulars: LOA 138.6 m / Beam 20.4 m /Approx. Draught 8.1 m / DWT 12,824 / GRT 8,887 loaded with HOT BRIQUETTED IRON IN BULK TTL 12,069.498 MT (dangerous cargo) has collided (cargo hold 4) with the M/V Kiveli, IMO No 8204731 northwest of Kythira island with the exact position being N 36 22’08.34 E022 42’41.35.
Our company’s tugs VERNICOS SIFNOS (BP 66MT), KARAPIPERIS 18 (BP48MT) and APOLLON (BP 48MT) are already close to M/V AFINA I. The weather condition in the area is rough and the vessel was drifting towards the shore, further escalation has been avoided due to the timely interference of our tugs.
