Vernicos Scafi
The first half of 2019, a joint venture between Vernicos and Scafi Società di Navigazione S.p.A of Italy was signed.
This joint venture came after the decision of the Italian Group to invest in the Greek company, which resulted in a new company renamed Vernicos Scafi, operating mainly in Piraeus area, but also active in Thessaloniki, as well as in other Greek ports (Lavrion, Mykonos) and Saudi Arabia.
Scafi Società di Navigazione S.p.A. was founded in 1955 by Salvatore Cafiero and today is among the leading Italian companies in harbor towage. It offers specific and tailored services for ports and terminals of various kind, including containers, LNG and Oil & gas. The group directly employs around 200 people.
The group is currently operating in four countries through its subsidiaries: in Italy (ports of La Spezia, Savona-Vado and Gioia Tauro), Croatia (Rijeka, Plomin, Pula and Zadar), Morocco (New Port of Safi), and now in Greece (Piraeus and Thessaloniki).
Both Vernicos and Scafi have a long family heritage in the towage business and this joint venture also coincides with a handover between generations.

To their geographical position ,La Spezia brought the markets of North Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Germany through motorways and railways connections and the ports of Asia, America, Africa and the Middle East through maritime connections. In order to offer to its customers a timely, efficient and safe service with alow environmental impact, Scafi got ISO 9001 for quality management system and ISO 14001, for environmental management system.
